During the Okayama Denim tour, we had the opportunity to explore The Elephant Brand Bandanna Museum, home to a remarkable collection of approximately 250 bandannas. Spanning from the 1850s to the 1980s, this collection encapsulates over a century of history, showcasing the evolution of simple cambric discharged fabric from utility to a fashion statement.
The museum is divided into two floors, each brimming with unique bandannas. The first floor exhibits non-branded RN# pieces, rodeo bandannas, and rare navy workwear brands, offering a glimpse into the diverse uses and styles of these iconic accessories. Meanwhile, the second floor is dedicated to bandannas adorned with the trunk-up and trunk-down elephant logos, adding a playful and distinctive touch to the collection.
If you ever find yourself in Okayama, be sure to make a stop in Kojima (児島) and visit this captivating museum.
